Мате [псевдоним; настоящее имя Бела Франкль (Frankl)] (23.4.1896, деревня Матольч, Венгрия, - 11.6.1937, Уэска, Испания), венгерский писатель, участник Гражданской войны 1918-20 в СССР, герой национально-революционной войны в Испании 1936-39. Член Коммунистической партии с 1920. Родился в семье сельского корчмаря. Окончил коммерческое училище. В 1-ю мировую войну 1914-18 в качестве младшего офицера австро-венгерской армии участвовал в боях на Итальянском и Восточном фронтах. В 1916 под Луцком З. попал в русский плен. Под влиянием Великой Октябрьской революции 1917 примкнул к коммунистическому движению. В 1919 в партизанской армии А. Д. Кравченко и П. Е. Щетинкина в Сибири; с 1920 в Красной Армии на командных должностях. В 1921-23 в составе войск ВЧК и ГПУ участвовал в ликвидации махновщины и кулацких банд. С 1923 дипкурьер, затем на хозяйственной работе. В 1925-28 директор Театра Революции в Москве. С 1928 работал в аппарате ЦК ВКП (б). Был членом бюро Международного объединения революционной писателей (МОРП). С 1936 З. в Испании под именем генерала Лукача командовал 12-й Интернациональной бригадой, был смертельно ранен. Рассказы З. печатались с 1924; большинство из них - "Ходя" (1924), "Кавалерийский рейд" (1929), "Яблоки" (1934) и др. - посвящено теме Гражданской войны в СССР; З. изображает пробуждение классового сознания в своих героях под влиянием революции, воспевает интернациональное братство. В романе "Добердо" (1937) З. разоблачает империалистический характер 1-й мировой войны. Награжден орденом Красного Знамени и посмертно - орденом Освобождения Испании, учрежденным правительством Испанской Республики.

Mating

In biology, mating is the pairing of either opposite-sex or hermaphroditic organisms for the purposes of sexual reproduction. Fertilization is the fusion of two gametes. Copulation is the union of the sex organs of two sexually reproducing animals for insemination and subsequent internal fertilization. Mating may also lead to external fertilization, as seen in amphibians, fishes and plants. For most species, mating is between two individuals of opposite sexes. However, for some hermaphroditic species, copulation is not required because the parent organism is capable of self-fertilization (autogamy); for example, banana slugs.

The term mating is also applied to related processes in bacteria, archaea and viruses. Mating in these cases involves the pairing of individuals, accompanied by the pairing of their homologous chromosomes and then exchange of genomic information leading to formation of recombinant progeny (see mating systems).
